It started off as a talk about how I took myself to Amazon bestseller to a professional writers group, and ended with an impromptu lesson about the power of landing pages and creating the database to launch your internet marketing dreams.
Then there was applause and standing involved.
In addition the first speaker I sat in awe of. This was writer/actress/director/producer Camille Solaris. This chick was off the hook!
Every script she wrote has become a feature film, most of which get optioned, funded, and she either gets to act, direct, of course she wrote, and produce, if not all at once. 8 feature films in 2 years.
Her largest accomplishment so far as been a 2 year documentary she was doing on James Brown, right up until his death. This will be coming out soon, and in addition, she was also hired to create a book called “The Making of.. The Documentary of James Brown.” Adding author to her resume. Oh, and she wanted to be a model, so voila, she got a modeling contract and billboards for Dickies Jeans.
Her films have involved such stars as Dennis Hopper, David Carradine, Edward Furlong (Terminator 4), Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, Patti LaBelle, The Black Eyed Peas, and the list goes on.
It was so great. Originally she she was booked, then I got booked because a movie call came up for her, then she could come for an hour, so the audience, and me got a double booking bonus of screenplay optioning and book publishing.
Internet marketing is critical for authors, because the success of your book depends on you, and internet marketing is the fastest, most effective way to reach a large captive, target audience. They bunch on blogs, around books, in forums, on Squidoo, De.li.cious, Myspace, and you can join that group, make friends, and have an audience to market your book too. So when you are planning to write your book, don’t forget to add market it, or else you’ll end up with a house full of unsold books in boxes, and that’s not a lot of fun after all of the effort you will have put in.
