… and he lived far, far, away in the swamps and forests of ISP land.
Then one nasty day, while the King and Queen slept in their lovely room of gardenias and grapes, the monster struck like a fury of fire and swept through the pixies of dust talk, spreading them like a dandelion’s wisp, never to be found again as they roamed the land of intricate pathways of neurons on the net.
Don’t you wish fairy tales never came true. Cinderella, sometimes this happens.
Robin Hood, it exists. Well this ia like Humpty Dumpty meets the headless horseman, and I’m sure we all have an internet marketing or email story to share.
Mine started today, when I went to check my email and there were none to be found.
Which for me, is not a possibility. This means that if you sent an email over the last 24 hours to me, it may not have arrived. Some fearless warriors did battle through like a conception to egg – but most were left to wiggle and die in a crowded wasteland.
The ISP we host Innersurf.com on, was down. All of the marketing sites are hosted with fatjack.com – a very secure, and powerful system that has unique IP address and the whole enchilada.
However, even though sales can happily be recording, ALL email is routed through innersurf, the parent company. This makes audit logs easy to restore from.
So, we have decided to move to a virtual dedicated server so that this doesn’t occur again, plus we get unique IP address, and a ton of other features, but that doesn’t fix what happened today.
Bottom line, if you emailed me, and I did not respond yet, or don’t respond within the next 24 hours, then I didn’t get it. You’ll need to resend it.
That’s it for right now. To sleep, perchance to dream, of anything except emails wandering around like lost souls in a B Movie.
Backup, backup, backup is my thought for the day. Wouldn’t have helped me, but it’s what I think of when I lose files or communications.
