It’s amazing really that if you take a trip, or go somewhere unrelated to what your topic is, that you can actually see and pull out elements that relate to how other companies, countries or people do things.
In this case, Barbados catered to duty free shoppers. So they had fantastic prices, tons of stores, all sorts of products, you got an automatic duty free submission form you dropped in at the airport, and taxis to service you every few feet.
This was a destination that has chosen ‘shoppers’ as its target market, and is making sure that it is easy, economical and fun for them to do. They have even small stores able to comply with duty free filing.
So my message here is how do you want to target your market. How will you maximize your unique selling proposition and integrate that into your websites and branding strategies.
I thought about this when I was in Singapore as well – because those people know how to sell. They stood in front of their stores, and pulled you in practically. They were hungry for the sale, and were willing to negotiate to get it. That was their market, and they worked it.
Take a look at your websites, and make sure your story, your USP, and your target market are being consistently served the way you envisioned.
It’s a good thing to get into the habit of while you are creating, and to inspect after wards to see how well you have done.
Have a wonderful day. I am heading home soon, so my next posts will come from there, and involve less vivid photography.
Share your thoughts and stories, links and ideas, it’s a wonderful way to grow.
